Emotions
In your anger do not sin Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold Ephesians 4:26-27
There are several emotions such as love, joy, fear, sadness and anger. The Holy Spirit must be given the rightful place to control these emotions or else, we can give the devil a foothold by giving into these emotions that will lead to sin.
These emotions, when accumulated within our hearts can also open the door to hurt and bitterness. Therefore we need to guard our emotions. When we are consumed with these emotions the sin must be removed by confession and repentance. There is no point driving out demons if the sin is not removed, it is simply like chasing the crows when the garbage is sitting at your door.
Emotions can also lead to rebellion. All these bring destruction to our homes and our work places, thereby robbing the peace that God has given us.
Today let us beware of our emotions and ask God’s Spirit to guide us in all our ways in life so that we do not give the enemy a foot hold to rob us of the God given peace.
Prayer
Dear Lord, Thy word says that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. Guard my heart and mind today so that I will glorify You in every thought and deed. Amen
