Honour the Lord With Your Heart

Those outside the church expect followers of Christ to live differently, yet today many in church are chasing after the world – not to win them, but to be like them. Billy Graham

Honour the Lord With Your Heart

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
1 Corinthians 6:19

Before the Passover, when Jesus walked into the temple in Jerusalem, he found people buying and selling oxen, sheep and doves. His reaction was to overturn the tables of the money changers and chase them out from the temple, saying “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” John 2:16. We see that when Jesus presented Himself as the Messiah, his first public appearance began with the cleansing of the temple.

Today, because of Jesus’ death on the cross, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and therefore, we have a responsibility to keep our bodies clean and sanctified for the Lord.

Our temple is made for God’s glory and He has given us the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to dwell in us. Like a dove, the Holy Spirit is very gentle and will only reside in temples that are redeemed, cleansed and sanctified by the blood of Jesus.

As our sin and deceit is washed away by His blood, let us honour Him with pure hearts. May we surrender our rights to Him and allow His Spirit to guide and direct us each day as we walk in His grace.
The Pharisees did not understand when Jesus said that the temple would be destroyed and rebuilt in three days. They immediately said that it took them forty six years to build the temple. Let not our understanding be like that of the Pharisees, walking by sight in the natural, but let us know that the Lord’s temple was destroyed and resurrected so that we can have a new life in Him. Jesus paid the ultimate price to redeem us from the law of sin and death so let us honour Him by offering our bodies as instruments of righteousness, yielded to God for His service and His glory.
Dear Lord,
I thank You for this day; I want my heart to be set apart and wholly surrendered to You. By Your grace, create in me a heart that is clean so that Your Holy Spirit may delight to dwell within me. Amen.

God bless you,
